This version gives authors clearer control over who can discover and open their content, adds optional sharing to the Local Community, and makes course building easier to navigate.

Important Visibility Update

Newly created content is not publicly listed by default. Authors can make an article, course, unit, lesson, or topic public from its new Public Visibility Settings.

Existing content is not automatically changed or removed from public view. When an author edits an existing item, its current public availability is preserved unless the author deliberately changes the setting.

Public Visibility and Access

  • Added Public Visibility Settings to every Front End Posts editor.
  • Added an Allow public access and show in site listings option.
  • Content with public access turned off is removed from public listings and search results.
  • Signed-out visitors who follow a restricted link are prompted to sign in.
  • Signed-in users can open restricted standalone content through its direct link.
  • Learning content connected to a registered course continues to require the appropriate course registration or access after sign-in.
  • Duplicated content starts with public visibility turned off, allowing authors to review it before making it public.

Local Community Sharing

  • Added Local Community sharing to My Posts and the content editor.
  • Authors see only community feeds and spaces where they are members and have permission to post.
  • Draft and scheduled content can be set to share automatically after it is successfully published.
  • All sharing destinations remain optional and are off until selected by the author.
  • Published content can be shared, retried, or updated without republishing the original item.
  • Clear statuses show whether a destination is not shared, queued, shared, ready for an update, or needs attention.
  • Updating an existing community post remains with the person who originally shared it, preventing another editor from unintentionally overwriting that person’s post.
  • Standard link sharing includes X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, email, and copy link.

Community sharing creates a short introduction and a link back to the original content. Later edits to the original content are not pushed automatically; the original sharer can choose Update share when the revised version is ready.

Easier Course Building

  • Added a Back button on the same line as the editor breadcrumb.
  • The Back button returns the author to the previous screen, with a safe fallback to My Posts or Course Structure.
  • Replaced the limited related-items display with the full course hierarchy.
  • The hierarchy now shows the course, units, lessons, and topics in their current order.
  • The item currently being edited is clearly highlighted.
  • Other items in the hierarchy link directly to their editors.

Clearer Scheduling Language

  • Replaced Publish On with Schedule.
  • Scheduled items now display Scheduled instead of less direct publishing-date language.
  • Updated the schedule dialog and button labels for a clearer, more consistent workflow.

Reliability and Compatibility

  • Local Community features remain hidden or unavailable when the site does not have a compatible community connection; regular authoring and link sharing continue to work.
  • Sharing permissions are checked when destinations are displayed and checked again when a share is sent.
  • Publish-time sharing now reports queue failures and allows authors to retry from the regular Share action.
  • Visibility changes clear the associated WordPress content cache so updated access settings take effect reliably.

This release improves the day-to-day course-building workflow, adds registration-aware course access, and introduces tracked video requirements for course completion. It also includes migration utilities and several editor and curriculum fixes.

Authoring Workspace

  • Updated the writing screen with a wider editing area, persistent formatting controls, and a compact document-options panel.
  • Placed save, preview, publish, unpublish, scheduling, tour, and help controls in a consistent page header.

  • Added compact actions for editing, viewing, sharing, duplicating, scheduling, unpublishing, and deleting learning objects.
  • Improved course-tree styling, row alignment, placement warnings, and return links after editing.
  • Kept catalog eligibility, credential alignment, resource links, and interactive-content selection available in the course workflow.

Learner Access and Course Pages

  • Improved curriculum-row alignment and responsive behavior across common screen sizes.
  • Added author-only links for editing course details and opening the course tree from a published course.
  • Added registration-aware course access messages for registration required, pending approval, inactive registration, and entitled states.
  • Restricted mapped course units, lessons, and topics until the learner has the required course access.

  • Added tracked-video settings for courses, lessons, and topics.
  • Added support for uploaded video, YouTube, and Vimeo sources.
  • Added configurable completion percentage and optional minimum watch time.
  • Recorded watched ranges so skipped portions do not count toward the completion requirement.
  • Saved video progress to the learner record and displayed current watch progress on the course page.
  • Blocked manual completion until a required video reaches its configured threshold.
  • Verified uploaded-video playback, refresh persistence, completion gating, and YouTube playback progress.

  • Removed an unsupported rich-text-editor plugin that could cause editor load errors.

  • Improved cover-image persistence and editor-state restoration after saving.
  • Reduced duplicate navigation and instructional text across course-management screens.

Validation Notes

The core authoring, course-management, registration-aware access, uploaded-video tracking, and YouTube progress flows have been exercised in the CredDistrict test environment. The following checks remain part of the production deployment checklist:

  • Complete Vimeo playback, pause, seek, and refresh testing.
  • Complete YouTube pause, seek, and refresh regression testing.
  • Run multi-user and signed-out course-access checks.
  • Run mixed course, lesson, topic, interactive-content, and video regression testing.
